access to literature should not be determined by a child’s zip code or their family’s financial situation. Too many children do not have access to high-quality books.
HOW WE DO IT—
In an effort to expand access to rich texts for all children, we partner with local Title I schools in the Richmond area to hold Readers to Leaders events.At these events, each child is able to select a book to add to their own personal library.
We also work with local coffee shops to provide the teachers with a hot coffee and treat to show our appreciation for all they do to have a positive impact on their students’ lives.
Today’s readers, future leaders.
The Readers of today will become the Leaders of tomorrow, and the future is a lot brighter after each event we host. These kids LOVE books and are genuinely grateful for the chance to take ONE new book home!
Keep their minds growing & engaged.
The more children read, the greater their background knowledge, the richer their vocabularies, and the more successful they will be throughout their academic careers.
